Student teachers to receive signing bonus, additional incentives from CCSD

Charleston County School District (CCSD) is releasing a plan to attract new teachers that could total approximately $2,500 for each candidate.
If a student-teacher (who is completing their final year of college) agrees to a contract with the district by April 29, 2022, they will receive the following incentives:
- $500 signing bonus
- $400 to pay for Praxis Exams (test fees and access to preparation materials)
- $190 to cover the South Carolina State Department of Education certification fees
In addition, new teachers for the 2022-2023 school year will receive four additional days of pay for attending new hire orientation and participating in professional development. Then, on the first day with students in the classroom, the teacher will qualify for an additional $1,000 bonus.
