Studio 2LR, Inc. Architecture + Interiors Earns Two AIAGC Awards

November 6, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – Studio 2LR, an architecture and interior design firm with an emphasis on sustainable contemporary design, recently earned two design awards from the American Institute of Architects, Greater Columbia Section (AIAGC).

The Brennen Building, located at 1210-1220 Main Street in Columbia, earned a citation award from the American Institute of Architects, Greater Columbia Section (AIAGC). Originally completed around 1871 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, this project restored one of the City’s best examples of an intact French-Victorian commercial structure. The building, owned by First Citizens, now houses a café, restaurant, and banking offices.

The Terrace Building at Coble Plaza located adjacent to the EdVenture Children’s Museum in Columbia, SC received a merit award. This building, owned by the City of Columbia was designed in conjunction with the City’s redevelopment along the canal and Congaree River. The roof of the building functions as a terrace for gathering and overlooks the canal and plaza below. A large cantilevered structural canopy is designed to provide protection from the sun and to act as a sculptural element.
