Success for LCSO First Fist Bump Friday

September 18, 2022

Friday is good day for so many reasons. It’s the end of the work week and the last day of school before the weekend respite.

This past Friday was a little “extra special” at county schools (Joanna, Ford, Hickory Tavern, Gray Court, Ware Shoals, Waterloo, LDHS, and Laurens Academy). Deputies from the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) were on hand Friday morning to welcome kids to school with a fist bump or a high five and some positive words of encouragement.

By all accounts Fist Bump Friday was a big hit with kids and deputies alike.

“Our first Fist Bump Friday was a great success and I enjoyed seeing all of the smiles,” said Sheriff Don Reynolds. “Together with our fine team of deputies we dispersed to schools throughout the county to greet children as they arrived at school. Just a simple gesture but it’s a big step towards building trust between Law Enforcement and children.”

LCSO hopes this event will be the start of a tradition. Judging from the smiles in the photos we hope it continues.
