Summerville Medical Center Earns Bariatric Center of Excellence Designation

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Summerville Medical Center and the Coastal Carolina Bariatric Center have earned national distinction as a comprehensive Bariatric Center of Excellence by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a combined effort between the ACS and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery works to advance safe, high-quality care for bariatric surgical patients through the accreditation of bariatric surgical centers. A bariatric surgical center achieves accreditation following a rigorous review process during which it proves it can maintain certain physical and human resources and the highest standards of practice.
In addition to this distinction, the Coastal Carolina Bariatric Center has also been recognized among the more than 600 practices within the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) as the number one HCA Physician Services practice in patient satisfaction for three consecutive years.
