Sunny Meadow Boutique and First Steps Launch Book Sale to Support Early Literacy in Laurens County

June 10, 2025
A new local partnership is giving families in Laurens County a meaningful way to support early childhood education—one book at a time.

Throughout the month of June, Sunny Meadow Boutique is donating 100% of profits from all book sales to Laurens County First Steps and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a beloved program that sends free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five.

The initiative aims to boost early literacy and ensure that more young children in Laurens County have access to books at home during their most critical years of brain development. Laurens County First Steps has been a key partner in expanding the reach of the Imagination Library locally, enrolling hundreds of children across the county.

“This program means so much to our community,” said Shannon Walker, owner of Sunny Meadow Boutique. “As a mom and small business owner, I’m passionate about giving children the tools they need to succeed, and it starts with books in their homes. We’re proud to support Laurens County First Steps in making that happen.”

Customers can support the effort by shopping Sunny Meadow Boutique’s curated selection of children’s books online at:

Every purchase made from the book collection in June will directly benefit literacy programming for local families.
