Support Lowcountry lands and waters on GivingTuesday

December 1, 2020

Lowcountry Land Trust is participating in the global generosity movement Giving Tuesday, raising money to further its work preserving vital Lowcountry lands and waterways. Dottie’s Pharmacy has pledged to match Giving Tuesday donations up to $10,000.

Giving Tuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on Dec. 1, 2020, and throughout the year. This day of giving launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Founded in 1986, Lowcountry Land Trust’s mission is to honor the relationship between people and land by protecting irreplaceable Lowcountry lands and treasured places. Lowcountry Land Trust has protected more than 147,000 acres across 14 counties in South Carolina.

“The Lowcountry’s lands and waterways remain our most treasured gift and protecting them is of utmost importance,” say Dottie and Scott Farfone, owners of Dottie’s Pharmacy. “The pandemic has made it abundantly clear that nature provides solace, a refuge, and respite from these turbulent times. We are thrilled to support Lowcountry Land Trust this Giving Tuesday.”

The Dottie’s Pharmacy team understands the critical role greenspaces and waterways play in maintaining mental and physical health. Dottie’s Pharmacy is a local, family owned and operated pharmacy on Folly Road. They have been providing specialty, compounding, and traditional pharmacy services since 2012. During the coronavirus pandemic, in addition to the normal pharmacy services and flu shot clinics they provide, the Dottie’s Pharmacy team opened a mobile COVID-19 testing site to meet the community’s need for safe, fast, and effective COVID-19 testing.

Lowcountry Land Trust has a goal of raising a total of $20,000 on GivingTuesday, Dec. 1. Donate at www.lowcountrylandtrust.org.
