Sustain SC hires Chief Operating Officer

Brent Jonas joins as organization’s first COO

Sustain SC is pleased to welcome its first ever Chief Operating Officer to the organization. Brent Jonas will take on the new position starting today. Jonas is an experienced economic development strategist who most recently served as Director of Stakeholder Relations for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance.

It marks a new chapter for Sustain SC,” said Ethel Bunch, President and CEO of Sustain SC. “Brent’s diverse background will play a major part in our continued efforts by growing our membership and providing sustainability support to our new and existing stakeholders. We look forward to many great things to come.”

Jonas brings nearly 30 years in the public and private sectors with experience in real estate, health insurance and finance to Sustain SC. He’s served in many roles throughout his career including Director of the South Carolina Board of Long Term Health Care Administrators, Budget Analyst on the SC House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, and Special Assistant to the President of Trident Technical College.

“I’m grateful to start a new chapter in my career and take on this new challenge as Chief Operating Officer,” Jonas said. “This position is a perfect fit, fusing my passion for economic development, sustainability, and maintaining and strengthening relationships. I’m impressed by all Sustain SC has accomplished in a short time and I look forward to being part of what comes next.”

Jonas graduated from Presbyterian College with a degree in political science and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of South Carolina.
