Swamp Fox Players set $75,000 goal for Palmetto Giving Day

May 3, 2026

The Swamp Fox Players are calling on the community to “cue the giving” as they prepare for the annual Palmetto Giving Day, scheduled for May 5-6.

Following a successful inaugural campaign last year that raised $52,000, the nonprofit theater group has increased its fundraising target to $75,000 for 2026. The 36-hour online event, hosted by the Bunnelle Foundation, supports nearly 90 organizations across Georgetown County.

The funds are earmarked for critical infrastructure and operational needs at the historic Strand Theater. Planned projects include building repairs, general maintenance, set construction, and costume design, as well as ongoing talent development.

“These critical funds will help expand the opportunities as well as fund improvements to the current offerings,” the organization stated in an appeal to patrons.

The giving event officially begins at 6:00 am on May 5 and concludes at 6:00 pm on May 6. Supporters can participate by donating through the official Palmetto Giving Day website or by engaging with the theater’s social media campaigns on Facebook and Instagram.

Located at 710 Front Street, the Swamp Fox Players have been a staple of the Georgetown arts community for decades. Organizers are encouraging residents to share the donation link widely to help reach the new milestone and ensure the continued presence of live theater in the region.
