Sweetgrass Pharmacy & Compounding celebrates milestone “skybreaking” on construction of second East Cooper location

August 7, 2020

When it opens in the spring of 2021, the second Sweetgrass Pharmacy & Compounding location will be the region’s only retail sterile compounding facility, elevating the company’s ability to serve the needs of the fast-growing Lowcountry region.

At 6,840 square feet, the newest full-service location in Carolina Park will feature a sterile lab certified to formulate injectable and ophthalmology prescriptions. The pharmacy will be USP 795, 797, and 800 compliant – the only one in the region with such a designation. This new location will retain traditional pharmacy services – dispensing all manufactured medications, providing immunizations, medication packaging, and include a non-sterile compounding lab. It will also add two drive-through windows. The pharmacy will continue to operate its original location in the Seaside Farms complex.

“The Carolina Park location is ideal for serving hospital patients and prescribers, all of East Cooper and even lower Georgetown County,” notes owner Cynthia Feldman. “The dramatic growth in this region of specialized healthcare providers inspired us to invest in this new, state-of-the-art facility.”

In order to expand its footprint regionally, Sweetgrass will continue to offer free delivery in the tri-county area, as well as free in-state shipping from both locations. “If somebody in South Carolina needs us, we’ll be here for them,” Feldman said.

Pharmaceutical compounding is the art of custom-mixing patient-specific medication for pediatric, geriatric, veterinary, hormone replacement, specialty cosmeceutical and pain management patients.

Feldman holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from MUSC, as well as an MBA from The Citadel. She is an active member of the South Carolina Pharmacist Association, and other organizations.
