Greenville attorney one of two seasoned attorneys to present annual review

GREENVILLE, NC – September 30, 2008 – Smith Moore Leatherwood attorney Natalma M. (Tami) McKnew has co-authored the Annual Franchise and Distribution Law Developments 2008 for the American Bar Association.  The book will be published in October and McKnew will conduct a presentation on the book’s updated content as part of the signature Annual Update session at the 2008 ABA Forum on Franchising.

“It is an honor to be asked to present our assessment of the year in franchise law to our esteemed colleagues,” remarked McKnew. “Even after a quarter of a century in franchise law, this is an awesome responsibility.” The annual review includes extensively researched case laws from August 2007 through August 2008 compiled in a user-friendly format designed to assist attorneys in their day-to-day research.  McKnew and co-author, David Beyer, will discuss the updates to the 2008 edition as part of Friday morning’s keynote session at this year’s annual Forum, Oct. 15 through 17, in Austin, TX.

McKnew is a member of Smith Moore Leatherwood’s litigation practice and focuses her efforts on antitrust, franchising and dealerships, and intellectual property.  She is a member of the ABA’s Forum on Franchising, Antitrust Section, Litigation Section and Intellectual Property Section and is a founding board member of South Carolina Women’s Lawyer’s Association.  She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, a master’s from the University of California at Los Angeles and a law degree from the Northeastern University School of Law.
