Partnership to Focus on Enhanced Opportunities for Disabled Veterans Through Golf
TD Bank has partnered with the PGA REACH Carolinas Foundation to enhance opportunities for disabled Veterans. PGA REACH Carolinas operates seventeen PGA HOPE Chapters throughout North and South Carolina. PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. The program is a developmental 6-to 8-week curriculum, taught by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency. All programs are funded by PGA REACH, so the cost of programming is free to all Veterans.
Hugh Allen is the Regional President for TD Bank’s Mid South Metro, and is based out of Charlotte, NC. “We are delighted to partner with PGA REACH Carolinas. PGA REACH Carolinas is headquartered in Greensboro, NC and led by its Executive Director Jeff Abbot. “I commend TD Bank for their desire to give back to their communities through sponsorships such as this. Their support will make a tremendous impact on the nearly 1,000 Veterans we will serve at our HOPE Chapters in 2022,” says Abbot. In addition to Veteran programming, PGA REACH Carolinas focuses on youth outreach, and diversity and inclusion through its PGA WORKS Fellowship program.
TD Bank’s support will help underwrite PGA HOPE programming in Charleston, Greenville (SC), Charlotte, Asheville, Columbia, Piedmont-Triad and the Raleigh-Durham. TD Bank will also serve as the Presenting Partner of the season-ending HOPE Cup at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Monday, November 7th, 2022. The HOPE Cup offers an all-inclusive trip to the resort for one team of three Veterans and one PGA Professional from each of the 17 HOPE Chapters to compete in a fun and social season ending event. The winning team receives an all-expense paid trip to compete in the PGA REACH Secretary’s Cup during the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY.
