TD Bank Receives 2012 South Carolina Excellence in Workplace Diversity Award

September 18, 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – September 18, 2012 – TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, has been named the medium-sized employer winner of the 2012 South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s Excellence in Workplace Diversity Award. This statewide awards program recognizes leading companies for innovative and impactful diversity programs that affect change in communities throughout South Carolina.

Criteria for the Excellence in Workplace Diversity Awards include diversity initiatives, effectiveness, applicability and replicability. TD Bank’s South Carolina diversity initiatives formally launched in October 2011 to implement the bank’s goals on a local level. These efforts include forming a Metro Carolinas Regional Diversity Council – a model now used across the organization’s footprint – which comprises five working groups for each of TD Bank’s diversity and inclusion focus areas. The bank prioritizes expanding leadership opportunities for women and members of minority groups; promoting and fostering an inclusive environment for people with disabilities and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community; and serving diverse communities throughout the bank’s Maine to Florida footprint.

TD Bank is not only America’s Most Convenient Bank, we also aim to be the country’s most inclusive bank with a culture that provides all employees the opportunity to grow and add value, said David Lominack, TD Bank Market President and Chair of TD Bank’s Regional Diversity Council. As TD Bank grows and adds more than 1,600 jobs to South Carolina’s economy over the next five years, we will look to attract and develop diverse talent that reflects the communities we serve in South Carolina. We are incredibly proud of this award, which affirms TD Bank is striving for true diversity.

Companies that make diversity a priority in their workplaces understand that employers and employees are happier and more successful when they implement sound diversity practices, said Otis Rawl, president and CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. We are proud to honor TD Bank, a leading employer in the state of South Carolina, for doing its part to create a positive work environment for employees.
