TD Charitable Foundation Supports South Carolina Non-Profits with $140,500 in Grants

GREENVILLE, SC – June 19, 2013 – The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, donated $140,500 to non-profit organizations in South Carolina from February through April 2013.
As part of TD Bank’s commitment to giving back to the community, the TD Charitable Foundation awarded 15 grants to non-profit organizations that provide affordable housing, financial literacy and education, and environmental programs in South Carolina during the quarter, including:
• Anderson Interfaith Ministries – Interfaith Ministries’ Women and Children Succeeding program provides support and resources for single mothers and low-income families to complete post-secondary education and develop leadership skills.
• Neighborhood Outreach Connection Virtual Learning Center – The Virtual Learning Center on Hilton Head Island will provide low-income children access to internet-based learning programs for continuing education outside of school.
• South Carolina Philharmonic, Inc. – Columbia-based South Carolina Philharmonic brings musical education to children, special needs students and senior adults through its Young Peoples Concert Initiative. This program involves more than 6,500 participants who attend concerts and receive instruction to spread music appreciation and knowledge.
• Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County – Habitat for Humanity creates home ownership opportunities for low-income residents by building affordable housing neighborhoods. A local project in Traveler’s Rest will begin in summer.

The grants’ impact is already being felt by the recipient organizations and the people they serve.
The grant funded by the TD Charitable Foundation will continue to give hope, change lives and provide educational opportunities in South Carolina so women can break the cycle of poverty, said Kristi King-Brock, Executive Director of Anderson Interfaith Ministries. To date we have graduated 116 families, and look forward to helping many more achieve educational goals.
