TD Charitable Foundation Supports South Carolina Non-Profits with $42,500 in Grants

CHERRY HILL, NJ – and PORTLAND, Maine – June 7, 2012 – The TDCharitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’sMost Convenient Bank®, donated $42,500 to non-profit organizations inSouth Carolina from February through April 2012.

As part of TDBank’s commitment to giving back to the community, the TD CharitableFoundation awarded grants to non-profit organizations that provideaffordable housing, financial literacy and education, and environmentalprograms in South Carolina during the quarter, including:
 

• Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands – The Boys and Girls Club’sProject Learn initiative engages young people in learning, encouragingthem to succeed in school and helps them become lifelong learners.Project Learn helps drive positive outcomes and academic success foryouth.
• Charleston Area Community Development Corporation – CharlestonArea CDC’s Asset Development and Financial Education classes providelow-wealth families with education and training in home purchasing,maintenance and preservation, and personal finance management.

• Rural Mission, Inc. – For 42 years, the Rural Mission staff andvolunteers have repaired and rehabilitated very substandardowner-occupied homes for low-income, rural families living on the seaislands of coastal South Carolina.

• South Carolina Council on Economic Education – Specificallytargeting school districts in the Upstate, the South Carolina Council onEconomic Education aims to improve students’ ability to manage money byconducting three professional development programs for teachers toimprove their comfort and confidence in teaching financial literacy toK-12 students.

• Sustainability Institute – The Sustainability Institute’s EnergyConservation Corps (ECC) provides home weatherization services in orderto lower energy bills for low-income families as well as green workforcetraining, certification and job placement services for Corps members.

The grants’ impact is already being felt by the recipient organizations and the people they serve.
