TEDx returns to UofSC in October; speaker nominations sought

January 16, 2020

The University of South Carolina will host its second TEDx event on Oct. 15. TEDxUofSC will feature eight speakers who each have an idea worth sharing to better the community.

The inaugural TEDxUofSC was held in 2018 and was a half-day experience that included 12 short, powerful talks, an address from the university president and two artistic performances. South Carolina aims to follow up the sold-out 2018 event with an evening of inspiration and innovation.

South Carolina is the host of the 2020 event, which will take place on campus, but TEDx speakers are not required to have a university affiliation. The university looks to its faculty and staff and the general public to nominate speakers to share their ideas. Speakers may be nominated on the TEDxUofSC web page.

Tickets for TEDxUofSC will go on sale at a later date.

The nonprofit organization TED began in 1984 as a way to spread ideas in the form of free, short talks that are no longer than 18 minutes. The organization hosts an annual TED conference and features a network of licensed, locally organized TEDx events around the world.
