Tele-Town Hall to Share Resources for Richland County Senior Citizens amid COVID-19 – May 21

May 18, 2020

In an effort to support senior citizens throughout Richland County and share important resources, Richland Library is hosting a tele-town hall event 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 21.

Hear from representatives from the following agencies during the hour-long call:

  • Richland Library
  • AARP
  • South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control
  • Richland County Sheriff’s Department
  • Senior Resources

We plan to address financial security, medical concerns and prescriptions, crime prevention and scam protection, and the Emergency Senior Nutrition Program.

“Richland Library wants to protect those who may be most vulnerable during this pandemic,” said Executive Director Melanie Huggins. “We think it is important to connect local residents to community partners, so they have reliable information that impacts their lives. The best way to combat fear is being informed.”

A question-and-answer session is set to follow presentations from the representatives.

Senior citizens may receive a call prior to the program, asking them to participate. If not, anyone can join by dialing 855-756-7520, Ext. 60644#.
