The Allstate Foundation awards YMCA of Greenville $20,000 grant

September 22, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – The YMCA of Greenville was recently awarded a grant from The Allstate Foundation to support the Y’s youth and wellness programs.

The $20,000 grant is dedicated to The YMCA of Greenville Youth Success Challenge (YGYSC), an initiative to challenge like-minded local and state businesses to invest philanthropically in the strong foundations of “Out of School Time (OST) Activities”. The Y provides for more than 30,000 youth in Greenville County alone annually. The “Out of School Time” YMCA programs approach youth development in traditional ways, with consistent mentoring relationships and quality learning environments that facilitate the positive outcomes in support of the Search Institutes 40 Developmental Assets. Participation at the Y leads to higher school promotion and graduation rates, as well as provides the positive foundations that lead participating youth to plan beyond high school as engaged young adults in our community.

“We are extremely grateful to The Allstate Foundation for their support of our programs,” said Scot Baddley, President & CEO of the YMCA of Greenville (SC).
