The Animal Mission to Benefit from “The Animal Attraction” and “Dressed to the CaNines” at Tapp’s Arts Center

WHAT: The Animal Mission and Richland County Sheriff’s Department K9 Division will benefit from “The Animal Attraction” and “Dressed to the CaNines,” two animal-focused arts events at Tapp’s Arts Center. Proceeds will benefit The Animal Mission’s spay and neuter voucher program, which has provided more than $1 million for 19,000 free spay and neuter surgeries for animals in the Midlands, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department K9 division for purchasing bulletproof dog vests.
“Dressed to the CaNines” was conceived by Stacy Baker, a jewelry maker, Tapp’s Arts Center resident artist and avid dog lover, whose company is LA Ti Da.
Dog owners who want to enter their dogs to walk the runway in high fashion as part of the fashion show may do so by picking up an entry form at Tapp’s Arts Center or by emailing [email protected]. Entry is $25. Prizes will be awarded and dog portraits will be available by Careese Photography. Richland County Sherriff Leon Lott will emcee the fashion show, and several of the sherriff’s department K9 division will also attend the event.
Jake’s Bar and Grill, Paradise Ice and Rosso Trattoria will provide hors d’oeuvres.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the fashion show begins at 7 p.m.
WHERE: Tapp’s Arts Center (1644 Main St.)
TICKETS: A limited number of tickets are available for $10. Pet owners may enter their dogs in the fashion show for $25.
MORE: “The Animal Attraction,” an animal art show, will be on display at Tapp’s Arts Center from June 5 – June 29, 2013. Artists interested in participating in the show should contact Brenda or Billy at [email protected] or (803) 988-0013. Artists may submit one to six pieces of animal–themed artwork to be considered by May 31 at 5 p.m. Proceeds from sales of artwork will be split among charities and the artist. Participating artists include: Jamie Stevens, Leslie Pierce, Lee McRoberts, Brad Williams, Pamela G. Walker, Marion Mason, Rachel Borgman, Lisa Puryear, Dee Hanson, Pat Gilmartin, Kristyn Larsen, Barbie Mathis, Sandra Carr, Jim Seigler, Gwyn Pevonka and Rachel Parker.
