The Autism Academy of South Carolina (AASC) announced Dr. Kathleen Franke, Ph.D., BCBA as the Director of Psychological Services. Dr. Franke has served as a member of the AASC team since 2014. “I am honored to accept the role of Director of Psychological Services. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to train at AASC throughout graduate school for psychology and applied behavior analysis, and I look forward to continuing AASC’s history of excellent work and advocacy for children with developmental disabilities and their families.”
In her role, Dr. Franke will lead the psychology department in conducting psychological evaluations, providing individual and family therapy, and directing summer camp and social skills groups. She will oversee the training programs for graduate students pursuing degrees in psychology and applied behavior analysis. In addition, she will expand the services offered to include behavioral feeding therapy and training groups for caregivers of toddlers who are newly diagnosed with autism.
Dr. Franke obtained her Ph.D. in school psychology at the University of South Carolina in 2018, and she completed her doctoral internship at Kennedy Krieger Institute at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. At Kennedy Krieger, she completed rotations in the Pediatric Developmental Disorders Clinic and Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program. “We are very excited to have Dr. Franke step into the role of Director” said Executive Director, Anslie Patrick. “Dr. Franke has extensive training in applied behavior analysis as well as school and clinical psychology. She brings a level of knowledge to AASC that will lead the department in effectively meeting the diverse needs of our clients.”
