The Beach Company announces five new hires

Devon McCoy has been hired as maintenance technician at The Jasper, a luxury mixed-use community located in historic downtown Charleston. In this role, he will oversee maintenance tasks, including painting, plumbing, electrical and carpentry work. He will also conduct regular inspections, address issues and respond to tenant repair requests. Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., McCoy holds an NYC building maintenance certificate and brings extensive experience from his previous roles with Marriott and Holiday Inn.
Butch Obergfell, Jr. has been hired as Chef de Cuisine, or head chef, at the Spring House at Kiawah River, the Charleston region’s first agrihood that combines residential, retail and hospitality offerings. With an extensive career spanning fine dining, hotels, resorts and casinos, Obergfell has led culinary teams at esteemed establishments such as the Hyatt Hilton Head Resort, The Vendue and the four-star Algonquin Hotel Times Square, Autograph Collection in New York City. A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, he has also served as a culinary arts and hospitality instructor, mentoring the next generation of chefs. His expertise in menu development, cost control and multi-outlet operations combines with a passion for creating elevated dining experiences to drive his approach.
Sarah Jordan has been hired as sales executive for Kiawah River’s residential offerings. Originally from Charleston, Jordan earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in marketing from the College of Charleston. Prior to joining Kiawah River, she worked as house manager for the 2024 Southern Living Idea House and at MKTG Inc., representing Diageo as an event marketing coordinator and innovation brand marketing manager. She holds a South Carolina real estate broker’s license.
Shelby Rhodes has been hired as junior graphic designer at The Beach Company. In this role, Rhodes will be responsible for designing marketing materials, web content and other visual projects across various platforms, contributing to the company’s overall brand strategy and visual identity. Originally from Mount Pleasant, Rhodes earned her bachelor’s degree in computing in the arts with a concentration in digital media and is currently pursuing her associate’s degree in graphic design at Trident Technical College. Prior to joining The Beach Company, Rhodes served as website technician for the International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders.
Abigail Bunn has been hired as leasing consultant at The Jasper. In this role, she will manage lease negotiations, ensuring a seamless experience from initial inquiry through signing and renewal. Bunn will also lead prospective residents on detailed tours of the community and its amenities, foster relationships with current residents and guide individuals through the leasing process. Originally from Winter Park, Fla., Bunn earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Marymount Manhattan College. Prior to joining The Beach Company, she contributed to the successful launch of a boutique at Hotel Bennett, where she supported the director of retail in overseeing daily operations, managing inventory, developing sales strategies and assisting hotel guests.
