The Blake at Woodcreek Farms senior living community breaks ground in Greater Columbia

February 16, 2016

A modern senior living experience is making its way to the Columbia area, offering a new tradition in care. The Blake at Woodcreek Farms will offer exciting opportunities to the area’s seniors and their families. Construction is underway and The Blake at Woodcreek Farms is scheduled to open in early 2017.

The Blake is prominently positioned at the entrance to the Woodcreek Farms community, a 2,300-acre resort-style community that includes a Tom Fazio Golf Course, walking trails, and spring-fed lakes. Woodcreek Farms is mere minutes from the area’s best entertainment, shopping, and dining at Village of Sandhill.

Cardinal Ventures, based in Mississippi is developing the 88,000 square-foot building that will feature suites designed for comfortable, safe, and enjoyable senior living. The assisted living options include both two-bedroom and one-bedroom suites. The memory support facility focusing on Alzheimer’s and dementia care will feature both studio and one-bedroom suites.

“We selected the Columbia market for several reasons,” says Harrison Young of Cardinal Ventures, the architect and developer of The Blake at Woodcreek Farms. “Columbia was selected as one of America’s Best Places to Retire by Where to Retire: America’s Best and Most Affordable Places, and being in the capital city has many advantages. In the last 15 years, Columbia has experienced an influx of investment, spurring significant development. Columbia is a rapidly growing market especially within the senior (65+) population, and we feel there are currently no senior living options like what will be offered by The Blake.”

Blake Management Group (BMG) is a privately owned senior living management company which operates all Blake communities with the goal to ensure residents receive the best care in every market they serve.  With locations in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and now, South Carolina, Blake managed communities blend modern Southern sensibilities with compassionate care.  Blake communities are staffed by a Registered Nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Also, The Blake takes pride in delivering an upscale restaurant-style dining experience with highly trained chefs and food prepared purposefully for seniors.  Blake signature dishes are prepared by the Executive Chef and delivered to residents by dedicated servers.

The Blake and Blake Management Group are deeply rooted in hospitality. “Our leaders have broad experience in both senior living and the hospitality industries, and we have designed amenities with this worry-free resort model in mind” explains Jeremy Cole, BMG CEO. “As a result, the lives of seniors are enriched by an environment that both promotes healthy living and the highest level of service to our residents.”  He added, “I look at every service delivered, every meal served, and every care plan we create for residents through the lens of if it would be good enough for my mother.”

It’s at The Blake that those looking for the best in care and quality of life will also find the best value around.  The value can be seen immediately in the beauty of The Blake communities, but also how resident care programming is delivered.  “We use a concierge approach for wellness,” says Glenn Barclay, COO of BMG. “Our Blake team will partner up with healthcare networks to create a comprehensive wellness program. Services are at our residents’ fingertips, whether it’s a doctor, medication, home health, or physical therapy. It’s all right there in the building.”

A Blake Experience Welcome Center is expected to open near the site this summer. Early residents will have the ability to reserve their exact unit and take advantage of move in specials. Visit blakeatwoodcreekfarms.com for upcoming news regarding development and pre-opening savings.
