The Children’s Museum adds Elvia M. Pacheco-Flores as Head of Community Initiatives

The Children’s Museum of the Upstate welcomes Elvia M. Pacheco-Flores as Head of Community Initiatives.  In this role, Pacheco-Flores will support the museum’s mission of “creating a community of problem solvers through inclusive and intentional play” while broadening the TCMU audience to include multigenerational families from all communities of the Upstate.

Pacheco-Flores joins TCMU after serving as HR Coordinator for Pendleton Place.  Prior to that, she spent more than ten years in the engineering, procurement and construction industry as a Human Resources professional for Fluor Corporation.

During her tenure at Fluor, Elvia held the title of Human Resources Specialist I and II for Fluor Corporate HR, Fluor Power (Nuclear) and Fluor Global Services (AMECO). She provided general HR support to employees on nuclear projects; maintained and coordinated the workflow process for the company’s hierarchy structure in SAP, Fluor’s Corporate HR system of record; provided HR communications for national and international organizational units, an action that contributed towards her ability to interface with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds as well as communicate with upper management on complex issues.

Before Fluor, Pacheco-Flores spent two years at Wachovia Bank, where she was responsible for finding solutions to customer banking issues related to personal finances.

She is is a member of Prospanica, the association of Hispanic Professionals, and serves as President of the SC Chapter. In addition, she is the founder of LatinosUnited and has served on the boards of Junior Achievement, PULSE, the YWCA of Greenville, USC Upstate Alum Association, United Way of Greenville County’s YP Council and others.

Locally, Pacheco-Flores has been honored as a SHEroe for Greenville, one of Greenville’s 50 Most Influential People in 2014, Best and Brightest Under Age 35, a diversity recipient of the Riley Institute and more. Nationally, Pacheco-Flores was recognized as a Young Hispanic Corporate Achiever by the Hispanic Association of Corporate Responsibility.

Pacheco-Flores received her Bachelor’s degree from USC-Upstate and her MBA from Strayer University.
