To Oversee Development Operations Across The Cliffs’ Seven Communities

The Cliffs announced the hire of Mike Shuping as their new Vice President of Real Estate Development. His predecessor, Richard Hubble – the recently-retired VP of Real Estate Development – brought over 40 years of experience to The Cliffs and was integral in achieving the rarefied real estate and amenities offerings that the collection of seven private, luxury residential mountain and lake club communities totaling about 30,000 acres in the Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains are known for. An admired and capable leader and collaborator, Mike arrives at The Cliffs during an incredibly exciting, but complex, next stage of growth and having spent the last 17+ years working as a land development manager across the US, he is singularly well positioned to assume this new role.

“We are really looking forward to Mike’s stewardship of real estate development operations at The Cliffs. Our communities are entering a phase of considerable growth and his comprehensive experience will be integral,” said Rob Duckett, President of Operations for South Street Partners.

As the Vice President of Real Estate Development, Mike will manage the design and construction of amenities, homesites, roads, utilities, and other infrastructure across The Cliffs’ seven communities. Prior to The Cliffs, Mike served as the land development manager at some of the premier commercial construction, land development and residential construction companies in Texas and Florida where he oversaw all phases of land development from the planning and construction process for civil engineering, land planning, surveying through to landscape architecture and managed large teams responsible for the completion of diverse single and mixed-home construction projects.

Mike attended Greenville Technical College for Construction Engineering Technologies and then studied Finance and Business Management from the University of South Carolina Upstate. He has also completed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) 30-Hour training for construction and general industry which prepares supervisors and workers to avoid workplace safety and health risks. Mike is also a licensed Storm Water Inspector from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers for Quality Management.

Mike and his wife, Paige, arrive at The Cliffs with their youngest son, Graham, and their beloved fur babies. Their oldest son Riley is a newly married Chemical Engineer who lives in Austin and their middle son Colby is in the USAF, stationed at Beale near Sacramento. Mike and Paige are big fans of the Houston Astros (and thrilled about their recent World series win) as well as the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team.
