Ever been to City Roots in Columbia and seen that abandoned, rusted building across the street? Well…turns out, it’s an incredible piece of Columbia’s aviation and architectural history called the Curtiss-Wright Hangar. Opened in 1929, the hangar was the first building constructed at Owens Field by a Company formed between Glenn Curtiss and the Wright Brothers. Here is the story of local, intrepid developers with a vision of preserving and restoring the hangar.
