The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical returns to Trustus Theatre

Theatre-goers of Columbia may already be familiar with Armadillo Acres, the setting of The Great American Trailer Park Musical. Now back for a third time at Trustus by popular demand, The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical tests just how deep neighborly love can run. Trustus Theatre, the home for relevant, innovative, and inclusive theatrical works in Columbia, South Carolina welcomes a cast of Trailer Park veterans and new to the stage actors under the direction of Robin Gottlieb and musical direction of Randy Moore.

Robin and Randy have both led the production before, but aspire to bring new twists to the story, starting with the cast. Vicky Saye Henderson and Kevin Bush are back to reprise their roles as Betty and Rufus, respectively. The rest of the cast are new to the show, bringing a fresh flavor and honesty to the story.

The main goal this year is to have good, old fashioned holiday fun. Director Robin Gottlieb says “Everyone who has the desire to laugh hysterically will want to see this show. This is the show that we all need right now… More than half the cast is new! Three are brand new to Trustus! That, to me, is thrilling… I want people to leave smiling and with some hope in their hearts. As silly and outrageous as this show is, the message is simple and it’s one of love, hope and belief.”

Patrons wishing to engage in holiday cheer are encouraged to come in character and don their best ugly Christmas sweaters. Limited time specials are available to purchase at the bar during the performances, including themed ornaments, shot glasses, and koozies. Pick up a bucket of PBR at the bar, kick back and relax for the 2 hour performance.
