Scots brought a lot more to America than just bagpipes.
And on the last weekend of May, people from across the Southeast will come to Greenville to learn that what else while celebrating all things Scottish at the annual Greenville Scottish Games.
Tickets are on sale for the Greenville Scottish Games, which will be held on May 28 at Furman University from 8:30a.m. to 8:00p.m., and will feature live music, games, authentic Scottish food, libations and more. Eight members of The Royal Highland Fusilier Honor Guard (2SCOTS) will be taking part in the games as well.
“The Greenville Scottish Games anchors Gallabrae, and embodies the finest of Scottish traditions brought to new levels of excellence,” said Jay Spivey, marketing director for the Games.
The Greenville Scottish Games began in 2006, and from its inception has consistently taken an innovative, fresh approach to celebrating Scottish heritage. Greenville is nestled in arguably the highest concentration of Scots-Irish descent in the country.
In addition to the festival at Furman, The Games will kick-off with the Great Scot! Parade on Main Street in downtown Greenville on Friday, May 27 at 6 p.m. The Honorable Alexander Leslie, Chief of Clan Leslie, has been named Honorary Chief of the 2023 Greenville Scottish Games.
