The Hartsville Museum celebrates National Youth Art Month

March 2, 2020

The Hartsville Museum will showcase student artworks from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) March 5- March 31, 2020 in conjunction with National Youth Art Month. The public is invited to an art reception at the Hartsville Museum to celebrate the opening of the exhibit on Thursday, March 5 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Works in the GSSM Student Art Exhibition 2020 were created through multiple modes of discovery – including traditional visual arts courses and innovative, student-choice opportunities in GSSM’s on campus art studio. Various media represented in the student exhibit include: graphite, charcoal, conte, pen & ink, colored pencils, acrylic on canvas, watercolor, carved wood, altered books, stained indigenous terracotta and glazed stoneware and non-traditional media.

Museum Manager, Andrea Steen says, “The Hartsville Museum is so excited to feature works of art from students of the Governor’s School of Science and Mathematics. They receive excellent direction from professional Patz Fowle and Museum patrons always truly enjoy seeing the creativity and talent from these students each year.”

The Hartsville Museum is located at 222 North Fifth Street, Hartsville, SC 29550. The Hours of Operation are Monday-Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
