The Hearth Center for Eating Disorders’ Executive Medical Director Authors and Releases Book on Eating Disorders

COLUMBIA, SC – April 2, 2014 – Dr. Timothy D. Brewerton, M.D., Executive Medical Director of The Hearth Center for Eating Disorders, located on the campus of Carolina Children’s Home in Columbia, South Carolina has co-edited Eating Disorders, Addictions and Substance Use Disorders: Research, Clinical and Treatment Perspectives, with Dr. Amy Baker Dennis.
Dr. Brewerton, a clinical professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, is triple board certified in general, child/adolescent and forensic psychiatry. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders; former president of the Eating Disorders Research Society; author or co-author of over 125 articles and chapters on eating and related disorders and Editor of the Clinical Handbook of Eating Disorders: An Integrated Approach, in addition to his latest book.

The book, published by Springer, presents cutting-edge research on the overlap of eating disorders, addictions and substance use disorders, reviews assessment strategies and treatment approaches and also considers the concept of food addiction in research, clinical treatment and public policy.
