The Insurance Source is ready for ACA Health Insurance Marketplace

February 14, 2021

The Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) insurance marketplace will be reopening from this Monday, February 15 and going through May 15.

The enrollment period for subsidized health insurance is established by the government and occurs annually between November 1, and December 15. President Joe Biden is introducing a special enrollment period that will allow those who are uninsured during the pandemic to enroll in a subsidized health plan without needing to prove a major life change.

“A risk that reopening the marketplace may pose is confusion. Someone might ask themselves, ‘Do I have to reenroll?’ They will be allowed to make a change, but will not have to,” said Guy Furay, owner of The Insurance Source. “Another major factor of this special enrollment period (SEP) is the fact that you can make changes to your current plan. That is very unusual. You will be able to switch between plans or even change insurance companies during the year.”

The coverage will be for the tax year 2021. If an individual enrolls in a health plan during the SEP, the effective date will be on the first of the following month, and the insurance coverage will last until Dec. 31, 2021. If a person has been affected by COVID-19 and was unable to enroll in a 2021 health insurance plan, The Insurance Source may be able to help.

“Virtual appointments and in-person office visits where masks are available are being offered,” Furay said. “We are here if you need help in understanding your health insurance options, and our goal is simple and straightforward — we make health insurance easier.”
