The LLS Visionaries of the Year Campaign was excited to celebrate 10 years here in the Midlands with a record-breaking fundraising campaign, collectively raising an incredible $500,000.
For over three decades, LLS’s Visionaries of the Year philanthropic competition has brought together thousands of dedicated volunteers across the country from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are driven to reach their own personal best. However, it’s proven to be much more than individuals and teams winning a competition — it is about exemplary leaders stepping up and championing others to raise critical funds that help LLS carry out its lifesaving mission and help patients live longer better lives. LLS is on the hunt for next year’s leaders and visionaries and would love to talk with you about getting involved.
Since its inception over 75 years ago, LLS has invested more than $1.8 billion in groundbreaking research in search of cures. Despite progress, more than a third of blood cancer patients still do not survive five years after their diagnosis. Proceeds also enable LLS to carry out its holistic, 360-degree approach in communities by providing patients, survivors, families, and caregivers free assistance, support, and resources, and by advocating for policies that give access to better, more affordable cancer care.
“These incredible candidates are helping LLS work towards achieving our bold goal: By 2040, LLS will enable blood cancer patients across the country to gain more than one million years of life,” said Bryan Landry, Executive Director of LLS’s Georgia South Carolina Region. “This ambitious future is guided by LLS’s commitment to cure blood cancer and support all those impacted by it — and is achievable with the continued dedication of everyone involved in Visionaries of The Year.”
