The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Georgia South Carolina Region kicks-off 2023 Midlands Visionaries of the Year Philanthropic Competition

February 22, 2023

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Georgia-South Carolina Region has officially kicked off its 8th annual iconic philanthropic competition, Visionaries of the Year to raise funds for LLS and the fight against blood cancer, a disease diagnosed every 180 seconds in the U.S. and has no current means of prevention.

Visionaries of the Year has helped LLS invest more than $1.6 billion in cutting-edge research worldwide, fueling nearly every critical advancement in blood cancer treatment that spans the most promising cancer research. And, as the leading source of free blood cancer information, education, and support, LLS helps blood cancer patients and their families through a wide range of free services.

Previously called, “Man & Woman of the Year”, the evolution to “Visionaries of the Year” is part of LLS’s recognized need to continue innovating participant experiences and events to ensure LLS creates the largest possible mission impact for blood cancer patients and their families. For this reason, LLS made the campaign transition to “LLS Visionaries of the Year” in ten pilot markets in 2022, and it is now implemented nationwide.

“With a goal to evolve and expand for ongoing success, we know Visionaries of the Year is an opportunity to ensure that the campaign name fully embraces the collective leadership and impact the entire ‘Of The Year’ class has on LLS’s mission,” said Amanda DuPre, Campaign Development Director of LLS’s Midlands Region. “Together, these relentless and inspiring visionaries are helping LLS achieve one unified goal — a world without blood cancer.”

The funds raised through Visionaries of the Year are used for:

  • Research to advance lifesaving therapies like immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine, which are saving lives today.
  • Free blood cancer information, education and support for patients and families.
  • National and local advocacy efforts driving policies that accelerate new treatments and ensure patients have access to care so that they can live longer, healthier lives.

This year we have 7 amazing Visionaries of the Year Candidates!

  • Aubrey Fitzloff – Lifetime Insurance Agency, LLC
  • Ciji Miconi – Signature Transportation, LLC
  • Jessica Gooding – Goings Law Firm
