The New Morning Foundation Expands Its Staff

MT. PLEASANT,SC – October 7, 2010 – The New Morning Foundation is pleased toannounce the addition of three staff members. Karen Starks and SondraBloxam will serve as Community Outreach Coordinators for Tell Them, theFoundation’s grassroots e-advocacy network. Elaine Faithful is the newCoordinator for the South Carolina Coalition for Healthy Families whichmonitors reproductive health policy and legislation.

Starks and Bloxam will join the existing Tell Them team in implementingcommunity-based advocacy campaigns to raise public awareness aboutresponsible reproductive and sexual health policies. Prior to joiningthe Foundation, Starks most recently worked as a consultant to the EauClaire Community Council and to the South Carolina Department of Healthand Environmental Control. She holds a master’s degree in divinity fromEmory University. Ms. Starks will oversee efforts in the Midlands andLowcountry.

Ms. Bloxam will be based in Greenville, South Carolina where shepreviously served as the after school program coordinator forCommunities in Schools. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan.

As the coordinator for the South Carolina Coalition for HealthyFamilies, Ms. Faithful will direct efforts to achieve policy changethat protects and advances South Carolina citizens’ reproductive andsexual health. The non-partisan Coalition brings together organizationsand experts to analyze the potential legal and medical impact of statelegislation. Faithful attended the Vanderbilt Divinity School andpreviously served as the executive director of Operation Home in Mt.Pleasant, South Carolina.
