The Riviera announces new concerts coming to downtown theater

August 18, 2022

The Riviera, Charleston’s 1930s Art Deco theater, announced its new upcoming shows with David Cook on Saturday, October 1st at 8 pm, David Nail with special guest Tyler Braden on Saturday, October 8th at 8 pm, and Amos Lee with special guest slimdan on Monday, October 17th at 8 pm. The concerts are open to ages 18 years and older, and tickets are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.

David Cook, who launched into stardom following his American Idol Season Seven win, certainly knows his way around a good song. His first album, Analog Heart, came out pre-Idol, and his last album, Digital Vein, nicely book-ended that chapter of Cook’s career. A chapter during which he sold more than 2 million albums and, collectively, more than 5 million tracks worldwide. David continues to find success, not only for himself but also as a writer for other artists and is currently touring worldwide.

David Nail’s candor cuts like a laser through star-making propriety, a ritual of predictable answers to predictable questions recited by artists averse to the controversy that truth can bring. He is respected up and down and beyond Music Row and has written multiple hits throughout the years. His journey is well underway with no terminus in sight, and he’s taking us all on the ride of a lifetime.

With one foot in the real world and the other in a charmed dimension of his own making, Amos Lee creates the rare kind of music that’s emotionally raw yet touched with a certain magical quality. On his eighth album Dreamland, the Philadelphia-born singer/songwriter intimately documents his real-world struggles, alienation, anxiety, loneliness, and despair. “For most of my life, I’ve walked into the room thinking, ‘I don’t belong here,’” says Lee. “I’ve realized that I’m too comfortable as an isolated person, and I want to reach out more. This record came from questioning my connections to other people to myself, my past and to the future.”

These concerts follow on the heels of The Riviera’s previously sold-out shows, including An Evening with Jewel, The Wallflowers, and Colbie Caillat. Additional concerts and shows are to be announced in the coming months.
