The Riviera’s inaugural holiday show to benefit Meeting Street Schools

September 19, 2022

The Riviera, an iconic theater located in the heart of downtown Charleston, announced the inaugural Riviera Rockin’ Holiday Special to take place on Thursday, December 1 and Friday, December 2 at 8 pm. The spectacular Christmas show will bring holiday merriment to King Street with a musical performance from the spicy and soulful Southern band, The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra. The band’s heightened energy and phenomenal musicianship bring new life to Christmas classics. Tickets are now available for purchase with 20% of proceeds from the show benefitting Meeting Street Schools, a Charleston-based nonprofit network of public and independent schools.

“We’re excited to debut our first holiday show and celebrate the season with live music, community gathering, and merriment in every way,” says Aaron Rowland, operations manager of The Riviera Theater. “The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra is sure to bring the excitement and we’re grateful to partner with Meeting Street Schools to give back through this event.”

Guests of all ages are invited to join The Riviera’s sister property, The Charleston Place, for exciting pre-show activities and festive decor to get in the holiday spirit. Prior to the show, guests can explore the iconic train, revel in the magical sight of “snow” falling, and enjoy the decked-out halls of the hotel, located just across the street from the theater. Guests can also kick the spirited evening off at The Riviera’s rooftop bar featuring the “Santa’s Sleigh” specialty cocktail for the occasion. This first-ever Christmas show at the historic theater will donate 20% of proceeds from ticket sales to Meeting Street Schools to help them in their fantastic work of providing children the deserved opportunity to achieve.

Based in Savannah, GA, The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra is known for adding a fun twist to old and new Christmas favorites with just the right amount of jazz and soul. This heart-warming holiday show follows on the heels of The Riviera’s previously sold-out shows, including Father John Misty, Colbie Caillat, and Collective Soul x Switchfoot. Additional concerts and shows are to be announced in the coming months.
