The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston announces new President and CEO, Quince Cody

August 7, 2015

CHARLESTON, SC – After 31 years as the Executive Director, Barbara Bond is retiring at the end of August, 2015. During her tenure, RMHC has grown from a 12 bedroom house to a home that serves 32 families each night and includes a family room at MUSC.  ‘Despite the growth, our focus to provide comfort and support to families of seriously ill children has not changed,’ said Barbara Bond. ‘The Board of Directors conducted a thorough search, and I am very pleased with their choice for the leadership of Ronald McDonald House of Charleston.’

Quince Cody’s background encompasses a number of CEO experiences managing financial institutions, non-profits, promoting institutional advancement and economic development.  In his career, he has served in various capacities with responsibility for business plans ranging from $10 million to $400 million in assets. ‘ I am honored to be a part of such an amazing organization and look forward to taking it into the next chapter,’ said Quince Cody.

Quince spent 25 years in the Credit Union industry with North Carolina’s State Employees’ Credit Union and South Carolina’s Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, overseeing their respective strategic plans. Additional tenure with Regions Bank provided expertise in commercial and private banking.  Quince’s involvement in the community via Rotary International, the American Red Cross, and the Boy Scouts of America includes a three-year stint as President of the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce with the priority of recruiting and relocating new businesses to the Greater Charleston area.  In addition, he also served as the Head of Advancement for Pinewood Preparatory School with primary responsibility for managing programs designed to attract the maximum gift support through both restricted and unrestricted means.

He has a B.S. in Business Administration from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC along with a MBA in Management from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC.  In addition, he has obtained the designation of Certified Chief Executive as a result of completing the Executive Education curriculums at the University of California, Berkeley; Cornell University; and the University of Virginia.

Quince, and his wife, Billie, have two children. Austin, a Duke University graduate and Blair, a rising senior at Clemson.

‘While this is my last thank you, I hope you will join Quince in continuing to grow our mission.  We could not have gotten this far without the communities help, and my hope is your support will continue to ease the difficult journey our families face,’ said Bond

About Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston

The Ronald McDonald House opened its doors 32 years ago as a home away home where families stay while their children undergo extensive medical treatment. Today, the House is able to serve 32 families every single night. Here, parents and children lead a life as normal as possible during their traumatic times without the financial burden of costly hotel and travel expenses. Our home offers these families’ comfortable beds, hot meals, a caring staff, and a four-legged friend, Gardy, all just steps from the hospital.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at MUSC provides a sanctuary within the walls of the hospital where family members can rest, read, shower or have a cup of coffee while still being only minutes away from their seriously ill child.
