The SC Bar Pro Bono Program holds a wills clinic for veterans and first responders

October 25, 2022

The South Carolina Bar’s Pro Bono Program is holding a wills clinic for veterans and first responders as part of the Celebrate Pro Bono Week on Wednesday, October 26, from 9 a.m – 4 p.m. at the SC Bar Conference Center, 1501 Park St., Columbia, SC. More than 20 volunteer attorneys will assist up to 60 pre-screened individuals.

The SC Bar Pro Bono Program is a volunteer-based program that refers cases of those who meet certain eligibility requirements to attorneys.

This clinic is part of a week-long celebration being held throughout South Carolina and the nation showcasing the importance of pro bono legal services. Gov. Henry McMaster issued this proclamation about the observance.

“Lawyers making a difference in our communities by lending their unique skills as an attorney to those in need also makes a difference for the profession,” said Betsy Goodale, SC Bar Pro Bono Program director. “We look forward to assisting South Carolina veterans and first responders and giving our volunteer attorneys an opportunity to rejuvenate their own minds and remind them why they chose to make the practice of law their life’s work.”
