The Scottish Bank to Change Name to North Carolina Bank and Trust

CHARLOTTE, NC –  August 6, 2008 – John Stedman, president and CEO of The Scottish Bank announced today that The Scottish Bank plans to officially change its name to North Carolina Bank and Trust (NCBT). 

We chose a name that clearly says that we are committed to serve the people of North Carolina, said Stedman.  We are also committed to further expansion in North Carolina and this name will support these plans.  With nearly $3 billion in assets in the Carolinas, our corporation is uniquely positioned for further growth and service to our customers.

It is anticipated that the name will change before the end of 2008, but an official date for the transition has not been set at this time. 

The Scottish Bank has continued to experience significant growth with over 35% in annualized loan growth since its merger with SCBT Financial Corporation in November of 2007.
