The Slice serves up new rooftop dining experience, adding to Simpsonville’s vitality

April 26, 2024

The Slice in downtown Simpsonville takes its New York-style pizza to new heights with the opening of its 1700 square foot rooftop dining space, adding a new layer to the city’s lively community.

“This rooftop is more than just an expansion for The Slice,” said Mike Baldassarra, partner and general manager. “We envision it becoming a hub for the community, a place where people can gather for all kinds of occasions.”

The Slice’s new rooftop brings the pizzeria’s capacity to nearly 150, offering a comfortable and stylish atmosphere with a mix of high-top and standard seating, perfect for enjoying dinner alongside friends and family. It also features a dedicated bar and area for live music on the weekends. The full menu is available until 9 p.m., with a limited menu of small bites and pizzas offered after that time until closing at 11 p.m.

“This project aligns perfectly with our ongoing efforts to amplify the vitality of our downtown. This creates a more vibrant and livable community,” said Simpsonville Mayor Paul Shewmaker.

Simpsonville’s population has surged to nearly 20% from 2019. This growth is attracting a wave of unprecedented economic development throughout the city, specifically downtown.

The City of Simpsonville is embarking on a $25 million project downtown that includes improved traffic flow, a more attractive streetscape with trees and greenspace, clearer signage, wider sidewalks and safer pedestrian crossings. In addition, the project will extend the Swamp Rabbit Trail to connect Simpsonville to Fountain Inn and will culminate in the opening of a completely redesigned City Park later this year.

For those visiting downtown Simpsonville and The Slice, the City provides nearly 300 free parking spaces within walking distance of Main Street.

In addition to the rooftop expansion, The Slice is excited to announce the opening of a new location, The Slice 2.0, in Fountain Inn, anticipated to bring its signature pizzas and lively atmosphere to the community by late summer 2024.

The architect of this project is Bo Garland with PSi Design and the general contractor is IHRS Construction.
