The South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy announces new Chief Executive Officer

COLUMBIA, SC — After an extensive executive search, the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (SC Campaign) will appoint E.A. “Beth” De Santis as its Chief Executive Officer. Appointed by the SC Campaign’s Board of Directors, Beth will transition into the role full time on October 3rd.

Gwendolyn K. Baker, Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO, is pleased with the board’s decision and is eager to welcome the arrival of De Santis. “To usher in a new CEO during a time when the agency is experiencing such tremendous growth and success makes this transition an exciting one. Beth brings leadership and creativity that will take us to our next level, and continue our unwavering commitment to the mission of teen pregnancy prevention. ” De Santis arrives at the SC Campaign with a host of experience.

De Santis began working at South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) in 2000 as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner providing clinical reproductive health care. After four years of clinical care, she was promoted to be the Program and Operations Manager for the counties of Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg. In 2010 she became the Director of DHEC’s statewide Family Planning Program and then in 2013 became Director of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

De Santis also serves on the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association’s Board of Directors. Her background includes a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina, Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia. Over the course of her career Beth has focused on decreasing unintended pregnancy in an effort to empower young women to develop to their full potential.
