The Walker Foundation & SCSDB

The Walker Foundation was established more than 32 years ago as a nonprofit organization for the sole purpose of raising public funds to help support the programs and services of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB).  The SCSDB is the state’s only specialized school for students who are deaf or blind.  The main campus is located in Spartanburg, but the school serves students throughout the state through its campus outreach programs. The Walker Foundation works to secure resources to help support the programs and services provided by SCSDB.  Through education, we seek to build understanding, acceptance and support for children with a vision and/or hearing impairment.  For more information about this topic, or to schedule an interview with Ann Akerman, please call 864-577-7582 or e-mail at [email protected]
