The Woodlands at Furman Director of Nursing honored with LeadingAge SC award

Desiree Reid, Director of Nursing at The Woodlands at Furman, has earned the LeadingAge SC Outstanding Leader Award.
Desiree has worked at the Woodlands at Furman for over a decade. She started with the organization in 2011 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After holding various management roles in the nursing department as a LPN, Desiree decided to further her education and become a registered nurse. She graduated and became a licensed RN in December of 2020, and took on the role of Assistant Director of Nursing. In September of 2021 she became the Director of Nursing. Throughout her career at The Woodlands, she has demonstrated a passion for caring for the residents and team members.
“Desiree has embodied the values of LeadingAge in her service to elders through her integrity and leadership at each and every stage of her career,” said Kassie South, President and CEO at LeadingAge South Carolina.
LeadingAge South Carolina represents 36 not-for-profit, mission driven senior care providers and is the leading resource in the state for advocacy and education for these organizations. The LeadingAge South Carolina Outstanding Leader Award honors one individual who exemplifies leadership through vision, integrity and courage to improve the lives of older adults. The award is given annually and decided upon by a nominating committee using nominations submitted from across the state.

This recognition adds fuel to my fire to be the greatest leader and example to all,” said Desiree Reid.
