The Woodlands at Furman to celebrate National Retirement Community Awareness Week

May 11, 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – May 11, 2012 – The Woodlands at Furman is celebrating National Retirement Community Awareness Week with five days of events featuring its residents, but open to the entire Upstate senior community.

This senior living community located in Greenville is honoring the week because of its commitment to healthy lifestyles for seniors. It is a Life Care community that added Masterpiece Living, which assists visionary communities who are already leading the industry with their wellness commitment to become places where residents and staff alike seek to better themselves.

Health is a big part of The Woodlands’ mission. Residents and staff took part in a healthy living campaign this year modeled after the television show “The Biggest Loser” and the community sponsors The Woodlands at Furman Challenge, which is a walking/running race series for seniors who take part in Greenville Track Club events.

The schedule for National Retirement Community Awareness Week includes:

  • May 15, 12 noon: Softball game and cookout featuring Woodlands’ residents.
  • May 16, 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.: A drum circle featuring all residents and staff.
  • May 17, 3 p.m. : The Woodlands Got Talent competition.
