This weekend: Citadel nursing community holding two events to promote breast cancer awareness

October 7, 2019

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, students and staff from The Citadel’s Swain Department of Nursing will host two events this weekend to raise awareness of metastatic breast cancer.

First, the department will screen two, back-to-back documentaries that showcase powerful stories surrounding breast cancer.

That’s Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. in Charleston Music Hall.

The second event is a very visual breast cancer awareness “fun run” and beach party on the Isle of Palms.

The run and beach party are on Sunday, Oct. 13 (National Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day). The mile-long run starts at 3 p.m. outside The Citadel Beach Club, and the party lasts until 7 p.m.

Both events are hosted by John O’Hurley, from Seinfield and Family Feud.
