Thomas Epting selected as South Carolina Leadership in Law Honoree

January 29, 2018

Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP Partner Thomas W. Epting has been recognized by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly as a “Leadership in Law” award winner. He will be honored at an awards ceremony on March 23 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston.

Epting is the practice area leader of Smith Moore Leatherwood’s Business Group.  His clients call on him to obtain all types of intellectual property protection for their assets including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. He also handles the management, licensing, and when necessary, enforcement of such intellectual property through litigation and other enforcement actions.

Epting serves on the board of the Greenville Area Development Corporation. He was formerly a patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and member of the board of managers of the Carolina Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Association. Additionally, he served as Lieutenant Colonel in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Air Force Reserves.

The Leadership in Law awards were created to honor legal professionals licensed and practicing law in the state of South Carolina who have gone above and beyond in their profession and their community. These honorees represent the most influential leaders within the state’s legal community. They are nominated by their peers and selected by a panel of independent legal professional leaders based on professional accomplishment, personal accomplishment, and community involvement within the Palmetto State.
