Thornwell Charter School Seeking Candidates for Board of Directors

Thornwell Charter School is now accepting candidate applications for three open seats on its Board of Directors. Community members interested in supporting the mission and future of the school are encouraged to apply for this important leadership role.

Each elected candidate will serve a two-year term and must be committed to attending all board meetings and completing mandatory board training within one year, as required by South Carolina law. Free training opportunities will be made available statewide by the SC Department of Education.

The candidate application is available online at https://forms.gle/BNAsuT4KKnZbFLPVA and must be submitted no later than 12:00 PM EDT on Friday, May 16, 2025.

Candidate information and responses to application questions will be posted online on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. A public Candidate Forum will be held via Zoom on Thursday, May 29 at 5:00 PM, providing an opportunity for each candidate to speak directly to Thornwell Charter School families and staff.

Online voting will open at 7:00 AM on Friday, May 30 and will close at 7:00 PM the same day. Each parent or guardian of an enrolled student and each school employee is entitled to one vote.

Election results will be certified and publicly announced on Monday, June 2, 2025. New Board members will officially take office during the regular board meeting on Thursday, July 24, 2025, when they will be formally sworn in.
