Thornwell Child Development Center Celebrates 3K and 4K Graduations
June 2, 2025Early childhood education milestones marked with two ceremonies
Thornwell, a nonprofit organization committed to the most innovative and effective solutions to help children and families, is proud to celebrate the graduation of 65 students in their Child Development Center (CDC) 3k and 4k programs. The graduation ceremonies held on May 28th and 29th recognized the growth and development of the youngest learners on Thornwell’s campus and marked their readiness for the next stage of their educational journey.
“These moments remind us that learning begins long before a child sits at a desk,” stated Nicole Maccalous, Thornwell’s Child Development Center Director. “Our 3K and 4K students have learned to share, explore, ask questions, and find joy in learning. Watching them cross the stage is a celebration not only of their past accomplishments but also of the bright futures that are ahead.”
The 3K graduation ceremony took place on Wednesday at Thornwell’s campus, where nineteen students celebrated their academic progress over the past year. The following day, forty-six 4K students graduated in a ceremony held at Thornwell Charter School’s auditorium. Each student received a certificate of completion, and both events were attended by families, caregivers, and Thornwell staff.
In partnership with Early Head Start and South Carolina First Steps, Thornwell’s Child Development Center is a licensed, early learning program serving children from birth to four years. The center is designed to prepare children for kindergarten through a structured curriculum that encourages exploration, creativity, and skill-building in a nurturing and safe environment. In addition to school readiness, the CDC prioritizes character development, relationship-building, and individualized attention that supports the unique needs of each child.
The program is part of Thornwell’s broader vision and mission to empower children and families to fulfil their God-given potential. Celebrating 150 years of service, Thornwell is a nonprofit organization committed to serving children and families across South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida through residential programs, family support services, and educational initiatives.
