Thornwell to Host Free Strengthening Families Program Starting June 10 in Clinton

May 14, 2025

Thornwell invites Laurens County families to take part in the Strengthening Families Program, a free, evidence-based 11-week course designed to improve family relationships and build resilience in children.

Classes begin Tuesday, June 10 and will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at 302 S Broad Street, Clinton, SC.

The Strengthening Families Program helps families with children ages 6 to 17 by building communication skills, teaching positive discipline techniques, and helping children make good choices and resist peer pressure. Whether families are navigating challenging times or simply want to grow closer, the program provides practical tools for long-term success.

Weekly sessions include:

  • Ashared family meal
  • Free childcarefor children ages 0 to 5
  • Age-appropriate classesfor children and parents/caregivers
  • Take-home resources, raffles, and weekly prizes

“This program is about equipping families with the tools they need to thrive,” said Ken Haywald, program facilitator at Thornwell. “It’s interactive, supportive, and built around what real families face every day.”

Open to all families in Laurens County, the program is provided at no cost, and space is limited.
