February 1, 2017

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd congratulates three of its shareholders on being named to South Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s 2017 Leadership in Law Honoree list. Steve Matthews, Julie Medich and Mac McQuillin are three of the 30 attorneys recognized in this annual award that honors legal professionals from across the state. Nominated by their peers and selected by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly, Leadership in Law honorees have achieved success in their practice and have made a positive impact on the legal community as well as the community at large.

Steve Matthews focuses on emerging enterprises in the new economy. As group leader of the firm’s IP practice, Steve routinely handles matters in areas such as corporate and government finance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, complex litigation and government and administrative law. Outside of his practice, he serves a blend of civic and community-oriented organizations and is currently Vice Chairman of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics Foundation Board.

Serving as the firm’s corporate practice group leader, Julie Medich is a versatile and resourceful attorney practicing in the business, mergers and acquisitions, economic development and commercial real estate spheres. Julie is known for her effective approach to commercial real estate sales and purchases, merger and acquisition agreements and business formations. She is also extremely active in the Charleston community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Liberty Fellowship and Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative.

As one of the firm’s newest shareholders, Mac McQuillin has an established business litigation practice and an emerging mediation practice. He advises individuals, local businesses and government entities in complex matters, and his background enables him to litigate LLC and partnership disputes, handle probate and estate cases and provide general counsel and litigation services to local governments. A native Charlestonian, Mac was elected to the Berkeley County School Board in 2014 and currently serves as the School Board’s Vice-Chair.

All 30 honorees will be recognized at the ninth annual Leadership in Law awards event on March 24th in Charleston, SC.
