Three local favorites are the latest to commit to the RBC Heritage

March 7, 2016

Team RBC Ambassador Matt Kuchar, reigning British Open Champ Zach Johnson and South Carolina native Bill Haas have committed to the 48th annual RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.  South Carolina’s only PGA TOUR event is taking place April 11-17 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Stewart Cink, Jason Day, Ernie Els, Davis Love III, Graeme McDowell, Brandt Snedeker and Boo Weekley are also slated to compete over the famed Harbour Town Golf Links.

Haas has earned six PGA TOUR victories and was the 2011 FedExCup winner. The Greenville, South Carolina resident is following in his dad Jay’s footsteps and making the RBC Heritage a tradition.  Bill hasn’t missed the Harbour Town event since finishing Q-school in 2005.  He also has a long relationship with the Heritage Classic Foundation.  He won the Players Amateur, held in Bluffton, South Carolina in 2002.

Johnson earned his second major win at last year’s Open Championship. He won the hearts of all RBC Heritage fans in 2007 when he competed at Harbour Town after winning The Masters the previous week.  He has won ten additional times on TOUR. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native, who now lives in nearby St. Simons, Georgia will be making his 12th start at the RBC Heritage.

Kuchar won the 46th annual RBC Heritage in dramatic style, holing a bunker shot for birdie on the 18th hole to earn a final day 64 and a one-stroke victory.  It was the Team RBC Ambassador’s seventh PGA TOUR win and capped a stretch of four consecutive top-five TOUR finishes. It also helped earn him a spot on his third U.S. Ryder Cup team.  The Sea Island, Georgia resident has competed in the RBC Heritage 12 times since turning pro in 2000.

Daily tickets and weeklong badges for this year’s tournament are now on sale online at www.rbcheritage.com or by calling the tournament office at (843) 671-2448.
