Three S.C. Business Leaders Chosen To Receive Top Honor

COLUMBIA, SC Junior Achievement of Central South Carolina and the S.C. Business Hall of Fame Committee have announced the names of the 2016 honorees, to be inducted at the 32nd South Carolina Business Hall of Fame this spring.

  • Anita G. Zucker

Mr. Robert H. Chapman, III is Chairman, CEO, and Treasurer of Inman Mills in Inman, SC. The company is one of the leading technical textile manufacturers in the United States, specializing in high-quality greige or unfinished fabrics and yarns for home furnishings, apparel and technical uses. Inman Mills employs more than 700 people in South Carolina and has a subsidiary in Macon, GA called Eastbank Textiles, LLC. He is a native of Spartanburg and has grown up in the family business. He is passionate about giving back to his community and has served on numerous boards and has been recognized with many awards.

Mr. William B. Cox (W.B. Cox) is the founder and former CEO and President of Cox Industries of Orangeburg, SC which was recently named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s SC Family Business of the Year in 2013.  The company has 14 manufacturing facilities and 30 distribution yards employing some 450 individuals in 22 states.  Annual sales are more than $250 million.  He is a pioneer in lumber treatment and creating new industry standards.  He is a member of the SC Housing Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Pile Drivers Association.

Ms. Anita G. Zucker serves as CEO of The InterTech Group, a global holding company that owns or has investments in a wide array of industries including aerospace, specialty chemicals, financial services, alternative energy, consumer products, location based entertainment, real estate, sports teams and arenas.  Since being founded by her late husband, Jerry, in 1982, The InterTech Group has grown substantially through a series of acquisitions, expansions, takeovers and organic growth.  Philanthropy and community service are ingrained in the foundation of The InterTech Group with a focus on education, workforce development and STEaM initiatives.  Ms. Zucker serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Florida and as an Area Commissioner for Trident Technical College and many community boards.  She has received numerous civic awards.

The South Carolina Business Hall of Fame is presented by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and Junior Achievement of Central South Carolina. Long regarded as the ultimate prize among the S.C. business elite, the black tie event will be held March 3rd, 2016 at the Columbia Marriott. Many previously honored laureates and their families will be present as the 2016 inductees are added to the prestigious roll.
